First day of Classes

January 12, 2009

I arrived on campus at 8:00 this morning. Since I don’t have any classes until 12:30 I spent most of the morning reading, sending emails and working on a schedule of music for the Middle School Youth Group. After my three classes though I don’t think the leisure of this day will be repeated too soon! I’m already determined to really buckle down and put my nose to the grindstone! Through blood, sweat and tears I will pull through this semester with acceptable grades (A’s — if possible) and a fountain of knowledge!
OK, for real now…I know that this semester will be difficult. But I also know that it is God who supplies my strength. I may have great plans for this semester, but no matter how it turns out I know that ultimately He is in control and. As I trust and obey Him, He will direct my paths (Prov. 3:5-6)

Many plans are in a man’s heart,
But the counsel of the LORD will stand. — Proverbs 19:21

It can be so easy to worry, but what peace we find when we rest in knowing that God is in control and has our good in mind! (Romans 8:26-39)

Looking forward to a great semester!!!

Lick the Elbow

September 13, 2008

It has been realized and confirmed by witnesses that one can in fact lick one’s elbow. This may be no surprise to some who have known me for many years but that “one” is really me. Here is how this amazing discovery was made:

It must have been the excitement of the weekend. The feeling you get when you walk away from your job or school knowing you won’t be back until Monday. Anyway, for whatever reason, as the Wilson family Friday night dinner of pizza ended I began entertaining Maria by making faces at her and talking to her in funny voices. When it comes right down to it I tend to be a people pleaser so the more she laughed the more faces I made and the funner it got. One thing led to another and pretty soon we were trying to touch our noses with our tongues. By this time Beth had joined the fun (she can in fact perform this feat of which I only dream) and we were all enjoying the fun and laughing at Maria’s attempts to reach her nose with her short tongue. Then I presented the challenge “Maria can you lick your elbow?” her puzzled looks demonstrated that she had no clue what I meant so I proceeded to show her. When I succeeded in this undertaking I was flabbergasted for I had been told that no one could successfully lick their own elbow.

Yup, this is about as exciting as it gets…Sorry if this turned out too long but it isn’t everyday that you get an opportunity to achieve the impossible. You really can do anything you want if you only try hard enough. So now it is your turn. Oh, how I wish I could see you as you read this blog. Believe me it is possible, try harder!
